Welcome to your official Trézor® device setup guide. This walkthrough will help you start using your Trézor® hardware wallet safely and confidently. Whether you're using the Trézor® Model One or Model T, these steps will guide you through setup, backup, and secure storage of your cryptocurrencies.

1. Inspect and Unbox Your Trézor®

Before starting, unbox your device and check the packaging. You should find:

Ensure your box is sealed and undamaged. Do not use the device if the package seems tampered with.

2. Connect Your Device

Plug your Trézor® into your computer using the USB cable. Your device screen will light up with setup instructions. You’ll be prompted to use Trézor® Suite, the official app for wallet management.

  1. Connect Trézor® to a trusted computer
  2. Launch Trézor® Suite on your device
  3. Follow on-screen steps to begin setup

3. Install Firmware

New Trézor® devices are shipped without firmware installed. This prevents pre-installed malware. The Trézor® Suite will automatically offer the latest firmware.

  1. Click “Install Firmware”
  2. Wait for installation to complete
  3. Confirm on your device

4. Create a New Wallet

After firmware installation, you can create a new wallet or recover an existing one. To start fresh:

  1. Select “Create New Wallet”
  2. Your device will generate a 12 or 24-word recovery seed
  3. Write it down carefully on the provided seed card

This seed is your only backup. If your device is lost or damaged, you can restore your wallet using this seed.

5. Set Up Your PIN

The PIN protects access to your device. You'll use it each time you connect your Trézor®.

  1. Choose a PIN between 4 to 9 digits
  2. Use the number pad displayed on your device to enter the PIN
  3. Confirm it a second time

A strong PIN adds a layer of protection against physical access attacks.

6. Add Crypto Accounts

Now that your wallet is ready, you can add accounts for supported cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and many others.

  • Open Trézor® Suite
  • Click on “Accounts” then “Add Account”
  • Select your preferred cryptocurrency

Each coin is managed with its own account, and you can monitor balances and transactions directly in the suite.

7. Receiving Crypto

To receive crypto safely:

  1. Select the account for the coin you want to receive
  2. Click “Receive”
  3. Verify the address shown on your device matches your screen
  4. Share the verified address with the sender
Tip: Always verify receiving addresses on your Trézor® screen before using them.

8. Sending Crypto

To send funds:

  1. Click “Send” in Trézor® Suite
  2. Enter the recipient's address and amount
  3. Review and approve the transaction on your Trézor® device

Transactions cannot be broadcast without your manual confirmation on the physical device, making it highly secure.
